memorial_day_rms_posToday, if you are not on the top of your game in the retail world, business is tough. Chances are, with all the competition of chains and big box stores, it is still hard just to get by. With that said, Memorial Day is upon us, you need to make sure you have all the sun tan lotions, first aid kits, ice chest etc. ready for your customers, because there will be people wanting these items for their festivities. Help your customers by creating an end cap or display and make it easy for them to find these necessary holiday items.  Create a Memorial Day gift basket or care package with these items.  Make sure your staff is trained to answer questions and can make suggestive selling occur at the point-of-sale

Because it is Memorial Day, I would like for us all to take a moment and reflect on why we have the freedoms we do, the ability to shop where we choose, and even have picnics and barbecues where we want. I am asking that we put forth a real effort in thinking about the men and women that served for this country and that are serving in our military that have lost their lives, limbs and minds to aid in making sure that we have the privileges that we enjoy today. For those who know me, I am a big guy and love to eat, and during this holiday my mind can’t help but to wander to thoughts of the BBQ smoker smoking and good old southern potato salad, homemade baked beans and a plethora of other traditional Memorial Day foods. But this year, I want my friends and family to truly recognize what was given up by extraordinary men and women in our military so we could have this celebration.

“Thank you Ma’am/Sir, for all your efforts in keeping our freedom free!”

Happy Memorial Day everyone!
